"Durham Heights is located in a trendy district of Houston, conveniently very close to Interstate 610. It is well stocked in It's amenities, to include a very complete fitness center and lounging area, pool and outdoor areas. I don't have pets, but it's definitely pet friendly.
As I transferred from out of state into Houston, It was important to have a quick and seamless transition. To this the staff at Durham Heights were very helpful and professional. Alonzo was the main person who assisted me with my paperwork process and he was cordial, patient and went the extra mile to get all my affairs in order. Alonzo also directed my tour throughout the facility and showrooms and helped me with my initial move into my residence.
The apartment I moved into was very clean and move-in ready, not to mention swanky. I'm very satisfied and happy with the whole process of moving to Houston and that includes my living arrangement here at Durham Heights."
"I have purposely waited to leave this review after moving out in September and paying off our final bill. Please read the news articles about this building, they are unfortunately true. We lived here for two years and planned on maybe making it a third until a new manager took over. The drive gate did not work for about a year and it sounds like it still doesn’t. It felt like cars were broken into or tires were being stolen about once a week. It is Houston, so things happen, but it was hard to feel safe here. The doors to get inside of the building were always broken for months at a time, allowing anyone to walk in.
Aside from the lack of safety, people let their dogs defecate and urine all over the hallways and the stairwells, packages were stolen, and things were generally just not taken care of. After the storm in May, we didn’t have power for 12 days, and we got a whopping $500 for our trouble. During this time, residents had taken it upon themselves to call Centerpoint as we were only getting vague emails from management. I could genuinely write 100 reasons why we left, but at the end of the day, the rent was way too high for what we were getting. Please do yourself a favor and do not move here."
"This place is a dumpster fire. They maliciously sent a bill to collections due to this review. I was told this was taken care of by management only to see it sent to collections. Steer clear.
Moved here expecting a clean and safe community. The garage door has been broken more than it has worked since I’ve been here. There were car theft and burglaries before the gate broke. Dog feces and urine in the halls and stairs goes unaddressed for days. The stove door broke off and injured me. The fridge went out for a day. Building manager laughed at me when I asked for him to credit spoilage from the fridge going out. I made an emergency report. Water came through my ceiling in two places. I have received no concessions on rent for any of these issues and the building manager is refusing to provide the insurance policy for the property. I expected a lot more from this place.
8/12 update - still the daily dog urine in the stairwell. Also roaches in the hall that go unaddressed for days if not weeks. No effort from management to get it under control. Embarrassing to say the least.
9/1 new manager. Has made request to replace the still non working gate. Future residents might enjoy that working one day. Still dog pee in stairwell regularly. Dog owners here tend to be careless. Car broken into multiple times. Third floor still always smells like death. The employees are nice.
9/5 I’ve decided to update until the urine in the stairs get clean regularly since the dog urinates there regularly. Also there’s a lawsuit that’s been filed regarding the conditions. See new photos of our trash situation at the moment. Some of the crap has been there well before this weekend. Luxury dumpster fire at the moment.
This place doesn’t stop giving. They sent me to collections for $123 and won’t provide an itemized bill after telling me my balance was cleared."
"I moved in at the beginning of September and have had nothing but great experiences here so far! Maintenance has been quick, office managers and staff are kind, helpful, and efficient, and the amenities are well maintained and clean. Chavonne has truly gone above and beyond, and is always there when I need her! The apartment isn’t perfect, but that’s to be expected. I’m so glad I chose Durham Heights as my first post-grad apartment!"
"Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from Durham Heights. Not only is the place disgusting, with dog poop constantly left in the stairwells and hallways, but their handling of major issues is abysmal. During the recent power outage, we were left in the dark—literally and figuratively—for weeks without any communication from management. It's one thing to be without power, but to receive zero updates or support during that time is unacceptable.
They love to boast about their gated garage, but guess what? The gate never worked the entire time we lived here! To top it off, multiple tires were stolen from vehicles inside that "secure" garage. Total joke.
This complex is the definition of false advertising, and the lack of basic communication and maintenance is shocking. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and missing tires."
