"The apartments are very nice and everything, the maintenance is good, it is a well-kept property and the office is friendly. If you have small children who like to run around the apartment, you will have your neighbor banging on the ceiling constantly. I have only been living here for 5 months and the neighbor downstairs has been banging for 5 months. Now I have a newborn and he has not had the decency to stop. Well, it seems that I will continue to hear loud banging from downstairs."
"Lived here for a year, but unfortunately did not renew my lease and moved to a new area just recently. As others have mentioned, it’s a safe, quiet, clean, and convenient location. Staff is helpful and communicative. Contrary to what others have said, I’ve never had an issue with parking. It may not be right next to your building, but it’s just a couple minutes’ walk away. I was in a second floor unit, and didn’t have any issues with pests.
My only cons were that treadmills in the gym stopped working months ago, and were never fixed. It would be nice to be able to use this amenity, especially during the summer months. Also, there were times when many washing/dryer machines in the laundry facility were out of service.
Ultimately, it is a solid place to live without the extra bells and whistles."
"The community is welcoming, and the property manager is very responsive to maintenance requests, which is a major plus. However, there are a few concerns to keep in mind. If you’re on the first floor, you’ll likely hear A LOT of noise from upstairs neighbors, especially if they have kids. While changing the pest control company has reduced the presence of larger roaches, the infestation issues persist. Additionally, the first-floor units are prone to flooding, so that’s something to consider."
"I lived here for 2 years and there's a lot of good to say about these apartments. I felt the staff was friendly, work orders were completed in a timely manner, management communicates issues and announcements well, it's a great area, safe, quiet, and a 10 min walk from the Terry Hershey trail. Also, the apartments have a lot of greenery, unlike others in Houston. The apartment itself was great when we first moved in. Downsides to the complex itself is the pool is closed a lot, and the workout machines have remained broken for months.
But my biggest complaint (and truly I don't do this much) is over the last 10 months, the roaches started to get absolutely out of control. We had pest control spray regularly throughout our time, tried traps and poison, we rarely left dishes out overnight, frequently swept and cleaned the walls by the garbage and stove, cleaned counter and stove tops. I even pulled out the fridge and stove cleaning under those at one point. We emptied our cabinets, cleaned, and had the pest control come to do a deep spray as well, but they kept getting worse after all of that. They even started showing up in my closet, bedroom, and bathroom towards the end of my time there.
I've lived in extremely low income apartments and areas around Houston, my 10 years there, including a couple in the Chinatown area, and I've truly never experienced them as badly as this place. I don't know if it's like that in every building and apartment, but these apartments are old and the inside end of building 22 has a major infestation in the walls, it wasn't just our problem of cleanliness. It would be deceptive for them to continue to rent out without truly treating the root of the problem. And I don't want others to be stuck in a lease without knowing what they are getting into."
"I have been living at the The Argyle for almost a year now and I like it very much! I generally feel safe at these apts because of the location. It is a little hidden and tucked into a nicer neighborhood, as compared to others that are off the side of a busy street. The apt neighborhood is very mixed but I see many families living here with small children which is very assuring. The ducks that live around here call this "home" as well and my dogs love to see them everyday. They have the lawn maintenance people here very often to keep up with the lawns around the complex, which is great. Also there is someone that maintains the pool every single morning during the weekdays to keep it clean, which is great as well. The maintenance men have handled all of my requests in a timely manner and they are friendly and very respectful ?I haven't had much interaction with the office staff since I've moved here;but I have made a couple complaints about the road damage near the gates and some debris that came about after Beryl, and they have responded and addressed the issues very quickly! Overall they have been great as well! It seems like a good place to live. ?"
"I accidentally deleted my review while editing it. I originally left 4 stars and mentioned that these apartments are great value for the cost.
After thinking about it again, I'm bumping my review from 4 stars to 5 stars. I find that the management team does exceptionally well for the amount of rent I'm charged."
